ABOUT THE MODULES

The study program is divided into seven subject groups:

  1. Ecological Applications module takes into account population management, diversity conservation, biological indication, biological remediation, ecotoxicology, environmental biotechnology and applied hydrology and hydrobiology.
  2. Environmental Assessment and Monitoring module contains a wide range of environmental assessment techniques including biological, chemical and instrumental systems. Methods utilized in the recent EU environmental directives as Water Framework Directive, Habitat Directive and Nitrate Directive are included. Moreover, this module also includes environmental impact assessment (EIA) procedures.
  3. Ecosystem Restoration module involves the protection and remediation techniques of aquatic ecosystems (rivers, lakes), wetlands and typical terrestrial land (mainly rural area but also included several issues related to industrial urban environment).
  4. Pollution Control focuses mainly on water (including wastewater treatment) and air protection techniques.
  5. Technical Infrastructure Development module is associated with water engineering, sanitary engineering, water level relations (especially irrigation systems), safe waste storage and elements of urban infrastructure.
  6. GIS and Spatial Planning module introduces training on geographical information systems and projects on spatial planning.
  7. The program is supplemented by seminars and the course on statistics. Students prepare and defend MSc thesis.
